New Request for Applications to Support Equitable Development & Environmental Justice in Brownfields Communities

This notice announces the availability of funds and solicits applications from eligible entities, including nonprofit organizations, to provide direct technical assistance to communities nationwide on the integration of environmental justice and equitable development when developing solutions to brownfields cleanup and revitalization challenges. EPA anticipates awarding one grant for an estimated $600,000. The award is anticipated to be funded incrementally on an annual basis over three years, at approximately $200,000 per year. The application submission deadline is September, 21, 2020.

MDNR Provides Rural Sewer Grants 
The Missouri Department of Natural Resources offers Rural Sewer Grants to small communities in rural areas for the cost to construct a collection system for unsewered areas or to construct improvements to meet more stringent permit limits. Eligible applicants are public sewer districts, public water districts, and municipalities operating a wastewater treatment plant. The Department will accept applications on a first come, first served basis. If you are not certain about the eligibility of a project, please contact the Department’s Financial Assistance Center at 573-751-1192

FY 2021 Supporting Equitable Development and Environmental Justice in Brownfields Communities Grant Guidelines 
Application Deadline: Sept. 21, 2020

This notice announces the availability of funds and solicits applications from eligible entities, including nonprofit organizations, to provide direct technical assistance to communities nationwide on the integration of environmental justice and equitable development when developing solutions to brownfields cleanup and revitalization challenges. EPA anticipates awarding one grant for an estimated $600,000. The award is anticipated to be funded incrementally on an annual basis over three years, at approximately $200,000 per year. Rural Sewer Grants
Application Deadline: TBD

Limited funding for Rural Sewer Grants is available for Construction of a wastewater collection system for unsewered areas or construction of wastewater improvements to meet more stringent permit limits. Eligible applicants are rural public sewer districts, public water districts and communities of less than 10,000 population (applications for the greater St. Louis and Kansas City metropolitan areas are not eligible). The maximum grant amount is the lesser of 50 percent of the eligible project cost or $3,000 times the number of service connections, up to $500,000.



Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) Offers Grant Assistance to Communities

Application Deadline: TBD
The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) offers grant assistance to communities interested in establishing or improving habitat (for pollinators, song birds, and other wildlife, or utilizing native plants to provide ecosystem services for residents. Grants are typically between $3,000- $10,000, but MDC will accept applications up to $50,000. More information is available online.
