Join our team! The Missouri Municipal League is seeking to hire a part-time graphic design and web content specialist. 

The primary focus of this part-time position is professional-level work in planning the graphic design and executing the layout of MML publications and website content, bringing consistency and value to MML’s brand. Designed materials will emphasize and highlight MML’s work to serve as a united voice for Missouri municipalities. The secondary focus is the maintenance of MML’s website content.

This position offers a high level of creative freedom in aligning MML’s print and electronic materials to support the League’s mission to strengthen cities through a united voice, cooperation, effective services and a proactive agenda.

This position is 15-20 hours per week.

Responsibilities and Duties

Design and develop layout for the bi-monthly MML Review Magazine, brochures, infographics, reports, fliers, sponsor materials and other print/electronic materials.

Design conference materials, including print materials (programs, fliers, signs) and online visuals (web banners, social media graphics).

Work with Communications Specialist for consistency in MML’s branding.

Update content on MML website,, including web banners, event information, publication posting, web calendar, Participating Affiliate (corporate member) listings, and more.

May assist MML Communications Specialist as time permits, producing and/or editing content for communications materials such as: newsletters, magazines, brochures, news releases, reports, fliers and other print/electronic needs.

This position reports to the MML Deputy Director, with general supervision received from the Communications Specialist; however, the employee exercises independent judgement in design/layout/web layout.

Attend occasional MML conferences, meetings and Board of Directors meetings.

Performs other duties as deemed necessary or assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong knowledge of Adobe desktop publishing software.

Demonstrated graphic art skills.

Ability to take direction from written or spoken ideas and convert them to creative brand-consistent images, layouts and designs.

Proficient or working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office tools.

Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work to meet print deadlines, while handling multiple projects simultaneously.

Ability to work effectively with co-workers, demonstrating a positive attitude, adaptability, and motivation.

Ability to tactfully and diplomatically handle design suggestions and critiques.

Ability to work effectively with the MML Board of Directors, membership and the public.

Writing/editing/video/photography skills are desirable.

Experience and Education Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with specialization in graphic arts, marketing, communications or related field. Associates degree may be acceptable depending upon demonstrated experience and design portfolio.

2+ years in creative design.

Two design-related references and at least one personal reference required.
