The City of Ash Grove in conjunction with Mel Gilbert Law firm will host the next Southwest Division meeting of the Missouri Municipal League on Tuesday, October 29, 2019. The meeting will be held in Ash Grove, exact location TBA. The topic will focus on Nuisance Abatement. Every city has them: Problem Properties. From overgrown yards to junk and inoperable motor vehicles to eyesore buildings with their roofs caving in.This informative workshop will explore the tools available to municipal officials to abate nuisances and unsafe buildings. Featured presenters will include two seasoned city attorneys who will review the legal hurdles and regulations that must be complied with when cities seek to force property owners to clean up their properties. Then representatives of IBTS (Institute for Building Technology and Safety) will discuss how their organization can assist municipalities with code enforcement.
